Simple Woman's Daybook--June 29, 2010

FOR TODAY June 29, 2010...

Outside my window… my red geraniums are happy and blooming profusely!

I am thinking... how 20 years ago Man of the House and I were anticipating the birth of our first child any day now.

I am thankful that the car accident that almost happened last Friday on our way back from Indiana didn’t quite.

From the learning rooms...nothing in particular today. It’s summertime. :-)

From the kitchen... Man of the House is grilling today.

I am wearing...khaki capris and a denim shirt.

I am creating...nothing at the moment, but I have a couple projects percolating in my brain.

I am going...nowhere today. I ran errands yesterday.

I am reading...The Moffats by Eleanor Estes. So funny!

On my mind…Girl of the House’s acid reflux. We’ve been treating it pretty successfully, but she’s not back to 100% yet.

Noticing that…our lawn is full of magnolia leaves . . . again!

Pondering these words…Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. (Ephesians 4:32)

I am hearing... the hum of the A/C and Man of the House’s voice wafting down the stairs.

Around the house...not much housework today, but I am proofreading Man of the House’s paper that’s due tomorrow. (He’s enrolled in the American Lutheran Theological Seminary.)

One of my favorite things...cool, dry, air-conditioned air! lol

A few plans for the rest of the week: sort through fabric, read, check the garden, write a few letters

Here is picture thought I am sharing... Girl of the House (with Man of the House behind her) at the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo:

  1. I'm thankful your car accident didn't quite happen as well. Praise God for His protection! Enjoy your air conditioning, I know I am. Have a blessed week.

  4. Remember when I almost hit a deer and another van which had avoided the deer on the way to Boston? Fun times, fun times.

Some idiot almost killed us the other day, too, when he totally ran a red light. Like ten seconds after it had changed. People need to get off their cell phones and drive already!

  5. Yikes! I'm glad you're all right! Who was driving?

Yes, I remember that. We came within a few inches (literally) of hitting the car in front of us when it stopped suddenly and swiftly. Thanks to Dad's quick thinking and deft driving (and the Lord's mercy!), we didn't hit anyone and none of the cars behind us hit us either. It was sooooooo close!

  6. That was fun, Lizzie. :P Mom didn't sleep for the rest of the trip.

*sighs* If you get in a car crash and die, I'm going to kill you.
